kriishhhhhhh!

I didnt expect to see a film shooting today which is why I couldnt make a permanent imprint of the spectacle that was unfolding at Lau Pa Sat today.

As you may know, Singapore Tourism Board is ‘supporting’ (I guess it must be financially and otherwise!) the bollywood film ‘krrish’ which stars the young hunk Hrithik Roshan and the crew have been here for more than a month shooting at different locations.

The film is a sci-fi movie where apparently now the hero (Hrithik Roshan) gets super human powers (with Matrix-like costume!), consequently there are several stunts that were shot in Singapore. Today was the shooting of a flying scene from the Clock Tower of Lau Pa Sat to a nearby building.

Ayekay messaged one hour before I reached Lau Pa Sat that Hrithik Roshan was up there waiting to ‘fly’ to the next building, and two hours later, Hrithik was still up there waiting. In a rainy day, with a heavy face mask (yay! the sci-fi hero wears a mask!) standing alone at the clock tower, for hours together, waiting to be yanked by a crane to crash into some building next door with thousands of spectators watching with their mouth open does not seem like a good deal to me - even for 4 million dollars. Sigh, acting is a profession I will decline even if I am offered (get the hint Rakesh?).

But what struck me was the free rein given to the crew to shoot in Singapore with the actors dangling form ropes (precariously), leaping from tall towers, and antics that generally are not seen anywhere in Singapore! I wonder if such freedom will be given to film producers in Singapore to take a sci-fi movie based on a Singaporean super hero!

Kirubakaran: I think u shud trust gmail enough to filter spam and not be paranoid about it!

Wow.
 Lovely.

As long as the Singapore tourism board earns its dollars, I dont think it matters, I guess.

Yeah I am a white-knuckled teeth-chattering wreck now :-)

BTW, xxx@yyy.com neatly fits a regex. Your “spam filter” simply gives you a false sense of security.

Sheky.s: Not really, 1 dollar for peak hours or max 2 - which translates to 50 rupees max!

Ayekay: I went to LPS so late to have lunch :) Thanks to you I got to see Hrithik :)

Manish: Hehehe, sorry the spam filter eliminates all mail references :) I guess now tht u have kirubakaran’s email ID you can mail him directly!

Kirubakaran: You dont need to, most likely spiders dont crawl to collect email ids - especially not from a low frequency site like mine :)

Bored Techie: Again, my spam filter will remove the link. So well, it doesnt matter.

Writing a book in jail is probably not a good idea; especially with no internet connection and no word processer, it takes you away from much more interesting blogger-photo-journalism(?).
Though I am open to sending the photos for personal usage thro’ mail if you like. Just ping me at . :)

Qui, Money is usually not a problem for Bollywood movies. They are really high-budget projects, and the “Film in Singapore! Scheme” which the makers of Krrish are using to shoot these scenes is 10million dollar budget of the Singapore government.

Incidently, an Indian serial (Rabba Ho Ishq Na Hove) airing on Hindi channel Zee TV was also shot primarily in Singapore.

Hey! This post was because of me. What were you going to LPS (Lau Pat Sat) so late anyhow??

Anyways, I finally managed to find time to blog about it myself. Check it out!

I guess you will get sue if you post the filming stuff and so on… Internet is a fast media to spread the news…

Do not post unless you really want to share, share someone who you trusted to…

Usually the production crew will protect their right ones… >_<

Manish, just post them dude! If you go to jail, you can write a book about it later and make millions. Come on, man! One thing is sure though… if you do go to jail, millions of bloggers will be happy that they got some material to scream-blog about :-D Don’t get shot down in a staged ‘encouter’ by the police though :-))

[boy -> boyish… man -> manish? (don’t kill me - i just cudn’t resist) :-p]

yet another way to mint money.

BTW road tax rate is pretty high in singapore.is tht true?

Guest's picture

Siju: True, but I dont want to do it :)

Tragicomix: I saw you :) U seem to grow healthier by the day ;-) Gotta submit this one to the taximan chronicles!

Qiu: I think all Indian Producers roll in cash :)

Manish: I doubt if they can sue you like that, coz it is a public place and they havent taken any precaution to shoot in a private place. Threats of sueing are just that - threats.

His special make-up is something which they want to protect from the web actually. So, no photo-shoots allowed. I got some from my ultra-zoom cam ;), but sadly can’t post online.

was at lau pa sat today, taxi driver’s take was that someone was committing suicide trying to jump off the building,

What U said here is true divya, but acting is there profession and many precausion measures are taken before all the stunt scenes. And its not going to be a big hit here in india these Matrix type stunts anyway.

Guest's picture

Idler: True :( So sad! Perhaps a Singapore-Malaysia Joint Venture perhaps ;-)

For one a local production will not have the budget to do it as it’ll not be supported by gahmen bodies!
