When gays marry

Dan Savage writes a very insightful article on how the sanctity of marriage is violated when gay men marry women. There is no law prevent them from being married and being gay at the same time (as the recent scandal showed). Why not lift the ban on gay marriage and prevent such mockery of marriages (if that is the aim of the “ban on gay marriage”)?

Sidarth: Indian society has a longg way to go before they accept gays. Heck, they havent even accepted the religious differences!

Sat: That doesnt beat the purpose, it enabled them to have a “respectable” position in the society.

Gay men marrying men - thats normal. Its so that, at the altar, the priest can say - “I now pronounce you husband and husband”

But Gay men marrying women - that beats teh whole purpose of being gay, doesnt it???

Growing up in the traditional Indian Society, homosexuality was a laughing topic for me just like most others. But,only in the last 3 years have I realised that Gays are also normal human beings and unfortunately arent given enough respect or recognition in mainstream society.

When the so called liberal American society itself is making such a hue and cry out of Gay Marriages or Gays marrying women,I just wonder when the time will come when mainstream Indian society will accept these things??!!
