Why passwords are worthless

The Register is reporting that office workers are willing to give away their passwords for a cheap pen! Sigh, until there is a change in people’s attitude, security will remain one big mirage.

And with so many stupid pop-ups and tracking softwares on the loose, it’s worse. Fingerprints, I guess is a good solution, expensive maybe, but effective. Passwords, therefore will definitely lose its appeal in the future.

Of course, I think that is why these iris recognitions thingies have come up.I think there is no viable next best alternative (no don’t like the idea of two factor authentication also). Singapore government verifies using fingerprints, and it seems good enough, but I am sure its bloody expensive!

True. But, don’t you think we need something better than passwords? Come on how many different good quality passwords can a normal human create and remember when needed? We certainly need a better way to deal with access to security.
