There is a very nice book on this topic, a lot of real life incidents packaged together with the experience of this one man who is a social engineer, phone phreak, hacker and what not - a must read for any one interested in Social Engineering.

“The Art Of Deception” by Kevin Mitnick.

Sometimes you just open your mouth and say “Wow ! that was brilliant !”

And yea…as Kevin says ..the best way to get the information you want is ….”just ask for it !!” which is what the survey did :).

As the systems become more and more secure, the games gets more and more dirtier!…..

Social engineering is the easiest way to fool people and rip them!

It may be a survey as mentioned in this article or it may be some unknown person with whom you are having a chat over IRC/chatroom!
